This is the first interview in a series of members of Philly Slots...Herb Bigelow, President of MARA - Mount Airy Racing Association...and organizer of the "Birthday Race".

How did you get started in slot car racing? What year, or how long ago?
In 2002, I went to Main Line Hobbies with $600 dollars in my pocket to buy HO trains. While I was in the store, I saw some model cars in the display case. The store owner, Mr. Les, asked me if I would like to see one of the slot cars run on the track, I said, “yes of course.”
I was so amazed to see the detailing of the slot car- so, I became hooked on slot car racing again!!! (I used to race slot cars when I was younger). When I left to store, I had purchased $600 worth of slot cars not HO trains. So, I have been in slot car racing for seven years now.
